Founded in 1987 by Peter Krumenacker to service bars, clubs, weddings and mitzvahs, Island Sound quickly built a reputation for being more prepared and professional than the competition. Whereas other DJs might show up late, in shorts and a ball cap, or be unable to perform because of faulty equipment – Peter made sure that every Island Sound DJ looked, acted, and sounded like a professional.

Peter’s paradigm was that, because each event only happens once, the secret to getting it right the first time was being both consistent and prepared – not just with all the necessary music and equipment, but being prepared to deal calmly and capably with the truly unexpected. This led industry professionals to call on Island Sound whenever the stakes were high and they needed someone they could truly rely on.

Relocating to the Triangle area, Peter soon built a team of accomplished DJs from different backgrounds and expanded Island Sound’s services to include corporate events, team building, equipment rentals and multimedia services.

Our hard work has paid off and, in our 25th year, we’re the resource of choice for savvy brides, attentive customers, and industry insiders alike.
